UNTIL YOU’VE PERFECTED THAT TIME MACHINE… by Brittany Tyler

Every year I always have the most honorable of intentions to make well-deserved gifts for all of my loved ones. I usually make good on this promise to myself, but not without some last minute compromises. Around this time every year – as though the clock has struck midnight and my dress begins turning back into rags and my carriage into a pumpkin – POOF, Mom’s intended crocheted lace cardigan becomes crocheted lace pot holders; My sister’s knee high striped socks become a striped sock yarn iPod cozy; and my brother’s Atlanta Falcons afghan remains a heap of black and red yarn and he receives yet another Xbox game (not that he minds).
If you too have not yet perfected the art of time travel so that you might actually finish everything you intend to make in your lifetime, at least Tangled has a few great last-minute gift patterns to help you in your holiday crafting endeavors. These are some of my favorite go to gift projects:
Cranberry Sauce Hat
by Brittany Tyler

This sweet cabled hat knits up quickly and with just one skien of bulky yarn.
Try it in Misti Alpaca Chunky (yum!) or Malabrigo Chunky.
Tessellations
by Tracy St. John

Let the yarn do the color work for you!
Basic granny squares worked in adorable Classic Elite Mini Mochi makes for an easy crocheted gift beanie.
Northern Lights
by Sharon Ballsmith

A very fast moebius crocheted cowl worked on a generous size L hook.
Heart Strings
by Cathy Pipinich

Basic crocheted mittens with instructions for a vast range of sizes (infant to men’s large) so you can make a pair for anyone and everyone.
Fan Stitch Stocking
by Brittany Tyler

If you’re bi-craftual and looking for a stocking pattern that works up in no time – you’ve found it!
Upcycled Oven Mitt
by Melissa Somerville

Functional oven mitt for the baking enthusiast in your life.
Make yours in recycled t-shirt yarn for a present that’s cost effective too.
Ponder
by Talitha Kuomi

A great gift for the men in your life. Also looks great in tarn.
Spandau Ballet
by Kim Driggs

These knit and crochet combo fishnet stockings work up virtually in no time at all.
Wishing you happy and yarn-filled holidays!

Love the t-shirt oven mitt! Could be potholders & hot pads, too. O, dear…I thought I was already ready for company, cooking, trying to sleep, and work in December. Now an oven mitt??*!*!

I’ve been there sooo many years, my family is actually disappointed if I don’t have at least one unfinished gift. The Ponder hat saved me, was it last year? Came out quickly and great. Thanks Team Tangled

I have wrapped many a half-finished project hanging from the needles with the yarn still attached… sealed with a promise to complete the thing before next Christmas.
